Professional biography

I was awarded my PhD in 2013 for my thesis ‘Producing and Collecting for Empire: African textiles at the V&A 1852-2002.’. The research was funded by an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award between the Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN ) at the University of the Arts London (UAL) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).

I went on to work at the V&A as an Assistant Curator on thedisplay 'V&A Africa: Exploring Hidden Histories' (15 November 2012 - 3 February 2013).  This display was heavily based on my PhD research and bought to light many of the  African objects in the V&A collection and explored the history of the V&A's engagement with Africa.

In 2013 I received an AHRC Cultural Engagement Award to further disseminate the results of my PhD research.
