Dr Richard A Marsden

Profile summary

Professional biography

Having worked in several universities over the last decade, I am very happy to be back at the OU. That’s because adult learners are definitely the best kind of student to work with! As a historian I work on the ways in which ideas about the past, especially the Middle Ages, have helped to shape national identities in Britain from the eighteenth century to the present day. As a teacher I am interested in enabling distance learning students to work together rather than in isolation, whilst at the same time giving them greater choice about how and what they study.
