research interests in detail > excess argon

The current project focuses on understanding excess argon as it appears in undeformed and deformed magmatic rocks. New analytical techniques, especially the high mass resolution of the new generation mass spectrometer at The Open University in concert with the high spatial resolution of the applied laserprobe degassing technique will allow insights into the sources, transport paths and sinks of argon in those rocks. This will help locating and understanding excess argon, even if present in small amounts only.
