Hi, I'm Maureen, I'm from Ipswich and I've applied for the AA100 course as a first step towards an English Language and Literature degree. So far I have: read Dr Faustus, completed the Dr Faustus section on the openlearn website and I've researched Cezanne on wikipedia. What has everyone else been doing so far?
I can't wait for it all to start! I can't believe it's 4 months away!

Hi Maureen
I am also from Ipswich! And doing the AA100 in Feb, I have only just started reading Dr Faustus and after reading your comment feel really behind and it hasn't even started yet.Super excited about it all though..
Hi guys, I'm Lorraine from Croydon starting AA100 in Feb, I havn't started any preparation yet, I completed the openings course Y180 in September and am working on a maths module at the moment which I am trying to get ahead with so I can start reading for AA100 in February. I have ordered the set books, what are they like has anyone read them? I am finding my experience with the OU very addictive so far!!
Hi guys, I'm Pete from Leamington Spa starting AA100 in Feb. You guys seem well advanced to me. I registered just prior to cut and received the OU box of goodies just last week. I'm just about to order the set books and am currently working my way through preparation (reading supporting notes and Study Companion). Out of interest has any of you set up study planner on the OU website? I'm finding this a little tricky at the mo and want to get myself organised as soon as. The whole experience thus far is really exciting if a little daunting.
Hi, I am Sophie from Oxford and just started to look at the material, all a little daunting but exciting
Hi all, I'm Fiona from Bristol, studying the Art History pathway.
I've done very little pre-study, just read the first scene of Doctor Faustus and watched the Cleopatra DVD. I decided my time would be better spent getting my study space and computer set up ready to go, as I'm one of those people who is either organised to the point of near-obsessiveness, or in utter disarray! I thought it would be best to at least start off organised...
Hi everyone, Matt from Southampton here. I registered back in December and have now finally got the student loan sorted after much hassle with confirming I am indeed me. Managed to set up my spare room into a proper little office with binders galore, punched pockets and other random pieces of stationery! I've read the first chapter and gone through the activity questions - taking notes - and fully prepared to redo it all when the course starts and I have a better understanding of what I've let myself in for. Have to say, read the assignments earlier today and have now worried myself stupid whilst wondering what I've let myself in for!
Oh and, something else that might make you laugh, I bought the first title on the list of set texts a few weeks ago - "Buriel at Thebes". I read it in a day, made some notes on themes, characters, settings etc etc - anything and everything just to help my own understand when the time comes to read it. I then looked in the books the OU sent out and realised this isn't the first book we need to read! Serves me right for being an eager beaver I suppose.
