Hi all.  My name's Mel and I'm 34, from NW England.  Due to start the AA100 in Feb and looking forward to chatting about it, particularly with any fellow "mature" students on the work/study/social life balance.  I work full time so am both nervous and excited about how it will go!

Hi Lisa.  Thanks for your reply/  I've ordered all my books, but only got the Book of Beasts to far!! Are you doing any prep?

Hi Mel,

I have received my set books but not the course work. I have started reading Doctor Faustus as they recommend to read this book first. On the You Tube I see they have the Doctor Faustus play.

Can't wait for the course work to arrive, so I can have an idea what is expected, especially as I havent studied for a while.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Lisa.

 Hello,

I am starting AA100 in Feb, I am currently working on DSE141 and looking towards a degree in Philosophy and Psychology.

I have already started reading all the books but that is more me being a book worm than anything else. I am really looking forward to the course however there is a lot of TMAs so hope I can keep up.

Good luck everyone.

Marie

Hello,

I am starting in Feb too. Am 38-hope that counts as sort of mature. Work full time. I have received all of my stuff from OU. Ordering set books this week hopefully. Just been reading my study companion. Getting a little anxious. Just hope I can organise my job and family life around study time! Have supportive husband and daughter, but worry house will fall down if I am not in charge!

I am hoping to follow an English Literature degree.

Am in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Good luck,

Claire

 Hi All

I signed up today, so haven't received any of the details yet. I am looking forward to it , but am also apprehensive as I also work full time , travel with work, have 3 kids and and a husband to balance amidst the modules !  Yikes ....  Any tips on any prep would be welcome - I think I'll start with Mr Faustas...

Looking forward and good luck everyone

Hi everyone,

Signed up today!

Looking forward after many years of 'thinking about it', to finally doing a degree in my favourite subject, English Language, not so confident on the Literature but going to give it everything and see what happens.

I am excited at touching on other subjects, this promises to be a great learning journey for us all....

I am 45 years old, 2 children, work full-time and live in Saffron Walden, Essex.

 Hi everyone,

I start in Feb too. I have received all the course material so I've started reading through it. The first chapter on Cleopatra is really interesting but I haven't got the set books yet. I'm working towards the degree in Humanities with music and I'm really excited about getting back into education. Like some of you have said already, I'm a bit anxious about getting the balance right but between work, family and study but I suppose I won't know if I don't try. I'm based in London.

Hi I have started AA100 on 4th Feb and am looking forward to getting more organised than I feel right now?

I have a degree in Psychology and am aiming for an open degree this time to improve my career prospects. I have attended and enjoyed my first tutorial on 8th Feb in Hertfordshire so far which was helpful.

I am a mature student with a full time job and two children based in Church Langley, Essex.
