Just wondering if anyone is starting this module in October 2011.

I'm a newbie to studying at the OU so would be grateful for any advice from people who did this module already or who are more experienced in studying with the OU.

Thanks

Carol

Hi Carol, I thought I might be the only one doing this module - so good to find your post. I have done quite a few previous modules but nothing at all "arty"so I don't really know what to expect. If it is like the others it should be pretty well paced and the material is usually very accessible and well thought through, although I haven't seen it yet.

Have fun,

Simon.

 Hi Simon

It's good to find somebody else who is doing this module. From looking at the timetable it seems pretty well paced. It's been awhile since I did any essays so a little worried about the TMAs.

Hi Carol,

What I used to find most difficult in doing assignments was getting started, as I seemed to want to write it perfectly first time. However, when one of my more wittier tutors said "just write anything, at least you might get some marks, as you wont if the page is blank". I do now start pretty much writing what I first think of. I then leave it and read it again the next day, decide it's complete gibberish and rewite it. The second draft is usually much better and actually quite quick to write even if it is a 3000 worder (which looks worse than what it is as there are about 500 words on a page of A4 and I've written more than 100 words on this).

So I wouldn't worry - just give it a go and I'm sure you will soon be writing all the assignments in the style of good old Will.

Regards,

Simon.

Hi Carol and Simon,

I'm sorry to interrupt an already flowing conversation but I'm just getting to grips with the OU website.

I'm also starting this course completely fresh to OU, in fact I'm still in 6th form so this is my first experience of university! I'm relieved other people are doing the course and I hope we'll be able to help each other out throughout the course, I must admit I'm a bit apprehensive about the level of work as I've never had to do anything like this before.

Look forward to working with you,

Phoebe
