:-) Nice to know I'm not the only one out there. I've managed to get the set books list, currently reading Dr Faustus. Anyone else started reading it? Not really my kind of book so getting through it slowly. What's everyones aims from the course? Mine's the first in my arts and classical studies after having to drop out a brick university last year. :-) hope everyone is okay :) xxxx

Jamie King - Sat, 01/10/2011 - 18:51
I'm hoping there will be one nearer Barrow/Lancaster because I really wouldn't enjoy a train ride to Manchester for a tutorial.
Peter Mccarthy - Mon, 03/10/2011 - 10:55
We'll find out soon, I guess. I'm from Carlisle, the other end of Cumbria, which was why I thought my tutorial might be in Newcastle. It would be too much to hope for to have it in Carlisle...
Indra Kandasamy - Mon, 03/10/2011 - 12:12
OOOooooppppsss.... I didn't know there were tutorials to attend.... anyone knows where the tutorial is going to be for those in manchester?
Chris Miskin - Tue, 04/10/2011 - 11:47
Hi all,
Just a spot of encouragement to those starting out in their studies...
I did AA100 in October 2008 to "test the water" with the OU, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My original intention was to do a History degree, but the thing with AA100 is that it will introduce you to different subjects which you may not have considered otherwise. As a result I'm currently awaiting my final course result to complete my Classics degree - still can't believe I did ancient Greek language! Be warned, OU study is VERY addictive, and I'm at a bit of a loose end now, wondering what I'm going to do with the time I used to spend studying!
Enjoy, it's a real journey.

Hi, I start the course in feb 2012 too. I'm from london and 21. It's the first time I'm doing a degree so I'm a bit apprehensive about it all. I'm still confused about the fees will it mean for me the course fees will go up in sept 2012?
I have also found this really useful in explaining how fees/repayments work from 2012 by Martin Lewis (from Martin's money saving tips) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55fKa-ErQ8E
Hope this helps

Hi,
I've just registered for this in February too, aiming for a Literature degree with creative writing. I've already got all my modules mapped out too, and a set book list for each one. I'm 28, live in the Perth area and did a degree in IT in Abertay University when I left school. My interest was always science and English, but IT seemed like a safe option at the time and I figured now is as good a time as any to go back to what I enjoyed most at school.
I didn't know there were tutorials either, I thought the catchment area thing was for exams. I'm hoping mine will either be in Perth or Dundee, don't fancy going to Glasgow or Aberdeen. It's only a couple of hours either way though so wouldn't kill me.
Katie Meades - Fri, 14/10/2011 - 12:59
I'm hoping my tutorials will be in Coventry or Birmingham. (mkaes me feel quite grown up and slightly scared thinking about tutorials and such things!) I've just got my funding accepted and am now offically on the course! exciting stuff! I just want it all to start now!!
Indra Kandasamy - Fri, 14/10/2011 - 13:42
hi
I have just received email stating i have been accepted for the funding - so, i am officially on the course now as well... can't wait for the course to start but scared as well - been ages since i studied...
