Help please, completely new to this way of study. I am starting aa100 in feb2013 and have just registered with OU. Trying to get my bearings around studenthome page. Silly question but should I be purchasing the set books now? Or will that be sent to me through the student finance route?. Do I need to be starting some sort of test dummy tma? Thanks in advance

 Hi Terry,

Don't worry, it will all soon come clear.
If you look on your student home and then click on your course it will tell you lots of details about when your goods should arrive. (Materials despatch) It will show you a date when they will be posted to you.

If you have extra books to buy, yes I would advise to buy some now. But if it is with finance you may need to put a question through CONTACT US to ask the support team about that.

Your course should also give you a date when it goes live as you probably cannot do anything as yet. But, when it opens you'll have access to all the details you need online and an online forum.

It is always adviseable to do a dummy TMA just so you know how to submit your work. Just do a word document and then upload it to the system where it tells you to submit - you will find this in the TMA are which is either on the top right or top left (depending on your course)

I hope some of this helps,

Susan

I am on the same course received my study materials yesterday!

I am also starting aa100 in Feb. I got all the materials yesterday and it's got me eager to get started.

You will have to purchase your set books as soon as possible.  However, I'm sure I have read somewhere that you don't need to buy them all at the same time and will be told what you will be studying at what stage and when you will need each book.  I think I'm just going to go and get them all in one go and get it out the way anyway.

Good luck!

Me too! Just got accepted fully today so haven't got any materials yet. I'm really excited though and can't wait to get going.

I start aa100 in Feb 2013 and have just received a big box of books :). Happiness is a big box of books! I haven't studied in more years than I'd like to admit too but am really excited and more than a little nervous.

I'm hopefully starting the course too in February. Should hear any day if I've been fully accepted. Sooooo excited to start ! And it's nice to see other people on here too. If anyone is on Facebook, you can find me under Sarah Louise Jordan, or you can email me direct sljordan78@gmail.com

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the thread, really helpful to those of us in the same boat! Just found the dvd/books to buy list myself, and didn't know a dummy run of a TMA was possible either (thanks Susan), so will be checking that out.

Happy to chat with anyone who wants to exchange experiences/advice as we progress.

Best of luck!

Really interested in this dummy TMA.

Cheers for highlighting that.
