Hi all, I am due to start the A100 arts past and present in February 2012 and since I haven't been near anything academic since 2004 I was just wondering if it was a good idea to start the Y180 - Making Sense Of The Arts first? Experienced people of the OU....please help!!

Hi Kerry,
I've just started Y180 this week, in order to go on to AA100 in February. I haven't studied since 1996.
Y180 is an openings course so is designed for those who want or need to ease themselves back into education. It requires around six hours of study per week, whereas AA100 requires around 16 hours each week. You don't have to complete Y180 prior to AA100 although it can be useful if you have not studied for a long time.
However... in order to complete Y180 before February, you would needed to have started this week. :(
Regards, Ben.
Hi Ben,
Thanks for your reply :)
Well I know if I start in November it will end in march time so it's a month after the A100 starts so fingers crossed if if I get a place on the November one I can still do the A100....I can't see what would stop me as I would of done the majority of the course by February anyway....
Kerry.
True! A month overlap shouldn't be a problem, and Y180 would still be good preparation. :)
All sorted, a month overlap isn't a problem :) can't wait to get started!!! So excited and nervous!!
Enjoy!!
Hi Kerry, if your not confident about you abilities then do Y180 first.
