Can anybody help me? I am desperate to find the answer to this as I start Child Development in February.
I am looking to become a child minder, as a gap fill before I finish my degree with OU. I have enroled on, and been funded for Child Development, and would like to know what route to take to become a childminder asap.
Which course would I start on? And how fast can I complete?
Thank you
Selina

Hi Selena
As a current student you can speak to the OU's career advisors who can hopefully point you in the right direction to find the information you are looking for.
All details are the careers website.
Good luck!

Hi Selena you would probably get on best if you contact your local Early years advisors as they will inform you about regulations in your area and course which are being put on loocally. They are usually short courses and will help you get registered. If you go online you can find Early years phone number for your area or your local council will also be able to advise. hope this helps lynne
Hi Selena, I'm a childminder, you need to seak to your local Early Years team via your local council as there are a few different courses you now need to do before you can register due to the new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). I am just about to start E100 for the foundation degree in Early Years but it is not necessary for childminding. Hope this helps.

Also check out the Ofsted web site for all the information/forms to register. Make sure you are ready before you put the application in as once the clearances are back [CRB health etc] the inspectors come out very quickly to do your registration visit and the whole registration process should take no more than 12 weeks.
