Hi everyone, i'm new to the OU side of things, and have just registered to the M256 software development module, and was wondering if anyone on here has or is studying the same module? Was wondering if they could give any insite into what the module is about in a bit more detail, and if there was anything they read up on before tackling the course head on?
Thanks
Andy ^_^

I'm taking the same course in the future, not this round, and so I've decided to get a head start by reading a book on Beginning Java. I found that the book Java How to Program 9th edition by Deitel is highly respectable as a place to start.

This is not really a programming course as such. It's a good course but there's very little actual code written in it. It's more about systems analysis, working out what an application is supposed to do, given discussions with a customer that you might be writing some program for. To learn to code in Java m255 or m257 (I think) are more appropriate. I did quite well on m255 and m257, but found m256 quite hard work. But was it worth doing - yes, absolutely.
