The idea of making disabled people being made o take out a

license to use an elctric wheelchair is an insult to genuine users

who are diligent and safe users. Some irisponsible users have          given all a bad name does anybody else feel as passionately as I    do. I am against this move.

Why would you feel insulted by being made to have a license for a mobility scooter/electric wheelchair? I don't feel insulted having to have a driving licence. You can't have a system where only the 'bad' or irresponsible users need a license, or for obvious reasons, nobody would think they needed one.

There are rules concerning speed and operation of mobility scooters/electric wheelchairs, which from my own personal observations are regularly ignored by some users, and they can be used on the public roads. How can we ensure that those operating these vehicles at the very least know the rules they are supposed to adheare to without some form of training and a license to prove that they have done that training? Not just for the safety of the public, but the safety of the users themselves.

Maybe experienced users should feel a little 'put out' by any new licensing, but insulted? I'm not so sure. Surely the only blame should be focused on the 'irresponsible' users, who are after all giving the responsible majority a bad press?
