Fresh from A-levels?

Just out of college with great (or not so great- like me) results but turned down the idea of traditional uni in favour of OU? Was it because of the prospect 'to study or sleep whenever it suits the mood' that brought you here, found the idea of 'work+education' tempting but couldn't share the passion with your peers, or perhaps to avoid weighty loans university life inevitably brings about? Are parents, relatives and/or mates shaking their heads at your choice, while you always struggle to make them understand that 'studying uni at home' and 'NEETing around' are entirely two different matters? Whatever your reason is, from getting to know the crew to turning to for moral support whenever needed, if you've just finished A-levels (or any equivalent qualification that can get you into another uni ) and are about to embark on a journey with OU, then here is the place to get the weight off your chest.

Let's support each other, enjoy our time here together and show those who think that we've lost the competition the moment we opted for studying here that we could achieve the same results as those who go to any other university, if not more...

Young people in the South

Heya, my name's Chris, and I'm in my second year with the OU. I'm 19, and although my OU courses are really good, all my friends have disappeared off to bricks and mortar universities. I'm sure I'm not alone in this, so are there any other young students out there in the South who would like to start a group and meet up occasionally? So, shall we get started...?

Err... a late, shy 'greetings' to everyone.

It's embarrassing. It was around five monthes ago that I've made this group, yet all this time I've been aimlessly lazing around until it suddenly hit me- hey, you've started a group and you don't even know what condition it's in. I mean, that's not how someone who starts something with eagerness do. Therefore, I decided that I, the poor and oblivious A.I., will step down from the leadership of the crew...

So...

Yo, how're ya doing? My (pen)name is A.I., and the first things you need to know about me are three:

1) that I talk rubbish,

2) that I'm aiming for B.A. in English Language and Literature and that I want to be a good writer one day(for some reason it's so hard to spell Literature- how I usually remember it is by writing Liter- first, then -ature, though I always end up consulting a dictionary),

3) That I badly want to play a GO Game with someone, but there's no one (except a stupid computer with a great A.I.... am I contradicting myself here?),

So, even though what I said above is important, never mind it; you don't have to pay heed to it...

Now, anyone for the Captain seat? Ah! I can see the glitter in your eyes! Well, you can have it, so long you have something really good you can say about yourself.

Only then I can be your minion.

So, anyone who'd take on the challenge?

(P.S. anything you say about yourself is good. But it's a different story if you're aiming better.)

The First Poll of the Day ( or week, or month, or whatever...)

A little 'hello' and 'sorry' present from me . It's nothing much, but here you go...

The First Poll of the Day: How do you create a poll?

1) Use the Tools OU Provided For Us (it's free you know, though they say nothing's free in this world).

2) Though I Can Only See Somewhere to Write Texts And No Proper Tools, How On Earth Can We Make a Decent Poll?

3) I'm a Technophobie So I Can't Help You There, Sorry.

So which one you pick? 1, 2 or 3?

If you have a 4, don't hasitate to post it.

This is the first time I make a poll, so I really need you're help (I might as well pick 3, though I pride myself for being a technophill...

Actually, just now I found where you can put the choices, though apparantely it's limited only to two... hmph, this time I'll just live it as it is, but next time expect a proper poll.

Oh, you still have to answer the question. You're not off the hook yet...

It's simple... 1,2,3 or 4 if you have one.

And 5 if you have something completely unrelated you want to bubble it away. But have no fear, we're all ears...
