The Open University Christian Union Group

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

A group for Christian staff and students to encourage each other in their faith and arrange to meet together in prayer and praise.

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
- Colossians 3v16-17

The Open University Christian Union (OUCU) exists to connect and encourage Christian staff and students of the OU from around the UK; for you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3v26).

The OUCU is:

  1. An online platform to share encouragements, helpful Christian resources and points for prayer and praise with each other; Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4v6-7).
  2. A catalyst for arranging evenings of prayer and praise among local Christian OU students; let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near (Hebrews 10v25).

Please join to find out more. Why not post your location to find Christian students and staff near you and arrange a time of prayer and praise together? Perhaps post a link to a resource you have found helpful? All contributions welcome.

Do be praying for those across the country starting new courses over this month, that God will guide and help them with everything in and around their studies. Pray that those who don't know God can meet Him and that those who do will keep looking to the promise of John 15v4, 'Remain in me and I will remain in you'.

Daily encouragements

Couple of things I've found really helpful lately:

If you are a smart phone user and can get hold of apps, there's a great one called Faith's Checkbook that has a daily thing from Charles Spurgeon's writings. It's a bit old fashioned in style but a great length for a quick read. You can also download Verse of the Day widgets which I found really helpful for redeeming the time I spent on my phone as it were!

If emails are more your thing than I've signed up to UCB's word for the day which tends to be a very conversational, contemporary illustration to get you thinking about something from the Bible and how to apply it. It's a good one for that standard morning email check!

Let me know other things you guys have found helpful too. Cheers
