I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU I WANT TO WORK IN SCENES OF CRIME OFFICER AND I CANT THINK OF A BETER DEGREE THAN FORENSIC SCIENCE & CRIMINAL JUSTICE DEGREE WITH MAYBE A PHOTOGRAPHY MODULE THROWN IN AS TO WORK IN FORENSIC SCIENCE I HAVE DISCOVERED PHOTOGRAPHY WIOULD BE A VERY GOOD ADVANTAGE AS U HAVE TO TAKE GOOD QUALITY PICTURES AS EVIDENCE.

For me, I would love the OU to add Russian as an option for the BA Modern European Languages course; atm I'm doing German and Classical Greek (yep, I agree it sounds odd, but both Classical Greek and Latin are available as valid modules for the Modern European Languages BA); however, I can summon up no enthusiasm whatsoever for doing French, Italian or Spanish, which are the only other options. If Russian is not available when I have finished the German, I'll probably change and do something completely unrelated like Religious Studies or History.

World Cultures, Anthropology, Egyptology, more Geography related modules & more Science short courses :)

Steven Ray - Sat, 19/03/2011 - 01:29

Agreed on Anthropology. I tried to convince a friend to study with the OU, but that sadly wasn't on the list...

Arden King - Sun, 19/06/2011 - 22:09

a second for Anthropology I would like to study this just for the hell of it

Charles Brewster - Tue, 12/04/2011 - 00:32

Would definitely be interested in studying Egyptology with OU

C++ and Assembly courses. One cannot get a serious games-programming job without C++ skills, and Assembly is also good for a resume.  Java and Visual Basic are not enough.

A course for Artificial Intelligence at level 2, that will help prepare students for the beast that is M366.  Also slim M366 down a bit - its easily a 60 pointer! Having to abandon M366 was most disappointing...

An astronomy/planetary science course at level 1. Make it 30 points and 4 TMAs. Designed jointly by David Rothery and Brian Cox.  Make it a compulsory course alongside MU123 for an Introductory certificate in Astronomy & Planetary Science.  That would be just right for those with just a keen interest but don't want a PhD, only something to feel proud of.

Animal care related modules would be super - perhaps asking for an entire veterinary degree is a bit much, but I'd love to see something equine related.

Jane Vorster - Fri, 15/04/2011 - 19:13

Hi Emily

Good idea - got my NVQ's but a degree in Equine would be fantastic....

I totally agree, this would be a super degree to have! Very hard to get elsewhere too.

I would like another 60 pointer at Level 2 in Religious Studies, there is only one at the moment; A217. Something specifically covering civic, national and political religions would be interesting (for me anyway  )

Amy Bowman - Sun, 01/05/2011 - 12:02

i'm interested in biology and the courses focuse a lot on people where i'd rather learn about animals so an animal course would be good

Arden King - Sun, 19/06/2011 - 22:11

if you like biology have a look at the natural science course it has a biology path

Please can you run a course on Egyptology?  A course that covered the  timeline, sociology, religous practices and a basic level of understanding of reading hieroglyphs would be a great addtion for anyone wanting to study the ancient world.  Even if it were only a 30 point course at level one or two.

Patricia Higgins - Tue, 02/08/2011 - 21:59

Hi Vicky,

I couldn't agree more, not enough courses are available for us history buffs! I have always loved reading about Egypt, but no courses are available, I'd love to see a degree or M.A. course in this subject, or indeed any Ancient History subject.

Adrianne Fitzpatrick - Thu, 14/07/2011 - 10:01

I'd like to see some broader or more varied ancient history. And something beyond basic photography.

I would like to see the O.U. run an undergraduate course in Archeology and possibly an M.A. in the same subject. I would also like to see more counselling options, like the Certificate and Diploma in Counselling offered to those who are not working and therefore not sponsored by an employer.

An M.A. in Ancient History would also be great.

Hi,

I'd like the OU to run some 30point third level social science courses. I only need 90 points to complete an honours degree. Clearly I don't want to have to do two 60 point courses if I can help it.

steve

Ray Brown - Fri, 16/09/2011 - 12:22

Considering the OU's expertise in the subject, I'd like to see a space systems engineering degree or at least an engineering degree with a very strong space systems element in it. Always wanted to be a rocket scientist!! :)

Syed Hussaini - Thu, 17/11/2011 - 12:00

Arabic Language!

Emma Shawcross - Mon, 28/05/2012 - 17:36

I would love to see more social science modules. We need some better ones then what we currently have. I would like to have more about working with difficult situations and people (drug users, child neglect, housing) to get my teeth into.

I also want to see more Chemistry and Biology modules.

Claire Trotman - Sat, 01/06/2013 - 21:09

More modern languages, modern Greek would be my first choice.
