Hi all,
I thought I'd start a thread where we can introduce ourselves before the module begins in February. I'm Lesley and L140 is going to be my first module towards a BA (Hons) in Modern Language Studies (Spanish & English). I'm also starting L185 at the same time and will be attempting to fit my studies in around running my own PR consultancy and looking after my two children.
I haven't studied since my A Levels 15 years ago so it's going to be an interesting time. I did A Level Spanish but haven't used it much since, so am expecting L140 to be a challenging refresher for me!

Hello,
Great idea to start a group!
This will also be my first OU course. Well, I've not exactly registered for it yet, but I'm 90% sure I'll be doing this along with L313 Advanced German, which also starts in February.
I'm a bit worried because I never learnt Spanish at school or did any Spanish course. Everything I know has just been learned through teaching myself and by speaking with friends, so it's going to be tough, I reckon! Plus, it'll be a lot of work with the German Level 3 course, but hopefully it'll all work out.

Hi there,
I was glad when I found a group for the module I'm going to study in February. L140 is my first module towards a BA (Hon) in modern languages (spanish and french or german possibly). I am looking forwards to starting the course but I am also getting a little nervouse as it is all very new to me and I too will be managing studying with work and family life.

Buenas tardes!
I'm Christina, and taught myself Spanish but did GCSE last year and did well so am taking this module to start an Open degree around work (at a school) and 2 kids. Really enjoying geeking out in my bedroom but worried about TMAs and keeping on track. (Just spent ages filling in my calendar and realised put the weeks in the wrong dates so will be scribbling all over it again).
Will you all be going to Manchester tutorials or are you all over the country?
Encantada,
Christina. x
Hi Everyone, I am going to do this course starting February 2013. I did Portales about 10 years ago and since then lapsed but did some great short courses at the Instituto Cervantes in London. I'm not quite ready for advanced Spanish and, as ever it is verb conjugations that let me down. How have you found this course?
Hi,
I'm from South America and speak spanish.
I´m trying to learn english, maybe this is not the place for me, but I think I can help you to learn some spanish, and in return I will learn some english.
Or
Maybe I´m just ... "Lost in translation"
