Good evening all,

I am looking to start my studies in October , but am accutely aware of the costs associated with the buying textbooks and other learning materials.

At what point do we, as new students get to know what reading materials we will need for the course?

Many thanks

Rai

 Hi Rai,

You shouldn't need to buy anything, the OU provide all text books and reading materials plus a DVD.

The only thing you might want to purchase is any extra reading materials, but these are optional and not required for the course.

Hope this helps.

Indeed it does help.  Thank you Ben.

Out of interest.... Are you staff or student? And have you worked on this module?

I'm starting the same module in October too, a little daunted by it as i've never studied law at all. Thankfully, my younger sister is a third year law student at Sunderland University. She advised me to read AQA's AS Law second edition. It's a revision guide for AS students but gives a good very basic introduction to the law. Perfect for me! hopefully i'll have a clue and not be too baffled in October!

Can I reccomend a great book called "Letters to a Law Student."

It's not the cheapest of books, but a great read and makes you think and interact with the text as the book progresses.
