What a strange phenomona this is. You own, says, Jaws on DVD and quite probably it's still wrapped up in it's cellophane, all unused and unloved. Then you catch a bit of the large finned one munching away on the small screen late one evening and it's impossible to tear yourself away.

Here's a few more from me, but does this happen to you and what films does it happen with?

The Burbs - Tom Hanks in zany, black comedy.
Brewster's Millions - Richard Pryor and John Candy comedy
Trading Places - Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd comedy
Aliens - classic sci-fi action horror. Not a comedy.

With me its things like the Underworld trilogy - vamps v. warewolves are always a winner for me!
The stupid thing is I'll even sit up later than I need to watching the film and sitting through all the ad breaks... why I never decide just to stick the dvd in and skip them all to save a bit of time I don't know!

I guess the older the movie, the less it comes out of the shelf.

The Fifth Element: A classic that I happily watch on TV any time of the day.

And there are also the movies that you don't own but watch everytime they are on.

Die Hard: All of them but I love the second one.
Any Steven Seagal movie: All the same but you have to watch them

I also think that the same is true for series. I sometimes have a hard time believing how often I watch an episode of Friends again, again, and again.

Die Hard! Definitely.

TV is a whole new area for discussion... Porridge, Fawlty Towers, Cheers, Take Me Out ;)

Five films I would definitely not want to watch late at night!

I don't tend to re-watch films but when an old classic comes on at bedtime - like Big, Goonies, a Hammer Horror etc, then I tend to get sucked in. Same thing happened last night actually, got totally drawn into Hannibal Rising and went to sleep far later than intended.

Yep, with me, it's 'Apocolypse Now' (Redux),  I want to watch it, because of its groundbreaking reputation.   But ...I don't know ...I guess you just have to be in a certain mood to watch three and a half hours of ill-fated Vietnam warfare and vaporous Cambodian jungle.  Oh and yeah, Fawlty Towers too.

Im with you Robyn when it comes to both Big, & Goonies. But I will also add Shawshank Redemption, Breakfast at Tiffanys, & Pretty in Pink to that list. Doesn't matter how often i've seen them I always get sucked in if i stumble across them whilst channel hopping, lol.

Shawshank Redemption is an EXCELLENT film, good choice Lisa
