Entrepreneur and UK digital champion Martha Lane Fox says it is "fantastic" that the Open University has pledged its support for Race On Line 2012.
Writing in the Open University's Open Eye bulletin in the Independent, she said it is a major step towards achieving the campaign's goal of getting 100 percent of the nation online.
"If just a fraction of Open University’s close to two million students, alumni and staff share their IT savvy with an offliner, we’ll be making real strides towards tackling this problem," she said.

I am quite ok at this technology but still find I am being left behind in some of the new things arriving, such as the i Pad and smart phones. Computers No Problem
I have already helped my brother and his wife by encouraging them to get connected, spreading the word through my connection with the OU I am positive has influenced their decision to be part of the techno-socio environment.
Even I still have difficulties and have been using the internet for over ten years!
My issues are usually fairly consistent however (always the mobile and / or ISP) I can never decide the best way to stay synced - I suppose that lessens my chances of being in the running for that ipad
