Three Open University students who won gold medals in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics have been named in the New Year Special Honours List, which recognises Olympians, Paralympians, and the most successful coaches following Team GB’s unprecedented success at the London 2012 Games.
Lucian J. Hudson, Director of Communications at The Open University, met a number of the OU’s Olympic and Paralympic students on Friday 30 November, when the University hosted an event to recognise and celebrate their outstanding achievements. He said of today’s news: “We are thrilled that our Open University students Etienne Scott, Dani King and Deborah Criddle have received such recognition in the New Year Honours for their achievement. It reflects wonderfully on all our students who competed in the Olympics and Paralympics, and shows that sport and study can liberate potential and change lives. We are tremendously proud.”
