To the people (not necessarily religious) who will invariably take this poll too seriously. - Yes! It is a gimmick, it is totally unfair, it IS intended to make a point.

The point is that the ambiguous nature of the forthcoming Census question on religion, will be used by our political overlords to "inform" policy.

- It will be used to justify 26 unelected Bishops in the House of Lords.

- It will be used to justify continued public funding for faith schools and academies, that segregate children and even teachers, based on their religious affiliation.

- It will be used to justify continued support for interfaith initiatives, funded by ALL of us: the taxpayers! Even if we don't agree with them.

This poll is fatuous, a bit of fun; but the Census question is IMPORTANT, it will be used to justify discrimination at the very highest level of our public discourse.

The "Non-Religious" are the largest minority group in the United Kingdom, ahead of all other minority faiths outside of Christianity; yet they go largely unrecognised in public discourse because they are treated as a non-entity.

As far as policy makers are concerned the largest minority group in the UK is "politically" negligible, a group that they don't have to deal with and don't even have to consider. - effectively non-people.

If you are religious, imagine how it must feel to be in such a minority. To have to constantly prove your worth in the public and political sphere, where all others are treated with dignity and respect because they claim authority from a book or a scripture, from prayer, prophets, messiahs or gods.

The non-religious claim only fairness, equality, mutual human understanding and justice; yet they are denied equal recognition because they refuse to make important decisions based on the nebulous concept "faith".

The Census Question on Religion is lazy, it's socially irresponsible, socially divisive and it's consequences immoral; it needs to STOP! Join the Campaign today and make a difference to public policy this year. -- Thanks.
