Thought I might as well start the ball rolling. I have registered for Y156 Understanding Children starting in November. I completed Starting with Psychology in June.

Hi

I have done several of the Openings Courses, and really enjoyed them all.

I have done that one you mentioned, Y156 Understanding Children, and it led me on afterward to choose to do E111 Supporting Learning in Primary Schools.  I highly recommend that one, if you have the opportunity to do some work within a school.

I did nearly all of the Openings Courses.  They are a good, and gentle introduction to the OU, some are books and DVD based, and some have online learning.

They also give you an introduction to study skills and the ICT and online forums and the eTMA (electronic assignment submission system, and some are computer based assignments.)

It is not all online, and I enjoyed many of The Opening Courses during last year, where I just had the books and DVD's with me, and frequent contacts with very helpful tutors with telephone tutorials.

 Hi Ellen,

They are a great way of getting to grips with OU study, I agree, and my tutor for Starting with psychology was fantastic. I am looking forward to getting stuck in again. What are you going to do after E111?
