Hi,

I'm Ben and I live just up the road from Jo in Barnstaple!

I'm also new to this, studying E111 Supporting learning in primary schools, and equally excited and nervous about getting started!

Hi,

I'm Catherine and am in Wesward Ho!  Not far from Jo and Ben.  I am studying DD208.  I am returning to study after a long break and am not used to computers and still finding my way around.  Also getting very nervous but excited.

I'm in Bath, starting my final year of modules in January to complete a BA (Hons) Humanities with Religious Studies. It's taken a while! Do others work as well as study and if so what are the top tips as next year will be my first time full-time working and doing the OU course...!

Hi, I'm in Salisbury. Getting ready to start my first OU course at the end of January. However I am not new to study having recently finished a diploma in first line management or as we students called it 'death by TMA' lol.

Dan. Effective time management and self-discipline are the keys to combining full time work with study. The old saying, 'never put off till tomorrow what can be done today' must be observed faithfully to avoid slipping into the catch-up trap. You need to be self-disciplined to manage your time effectively enough to stay slightly ahead of the course material. That way you will be able to absorb the material more effectively and get higher grades. If you don't then you will fall behind in your studies which adds uneccesary stress and distraction. This in turn leads to rushing study and assignments with a corresponding drop in assimilation of the course material. Inevitably, the result is lower grades.
