Hi there,
My name is Matthew, and I am starting 'Exploring Psychology' in October, just would like to know if someone here has done it, and how did they find, or if someone is also staring it in the same date as me. I have studied four modules with the OU, and find all the modules very good. If someone could let me know, I'd be grateful a.

Hi Matthew, i too am doing dse212 in october, where are you based? I am in south wales
DSE 212 Oct 2011 group...
...there's also a group i've found that has ben set up for DSE 212 Oct 2011 http://www8.open.ac.uk/platform/groups/dse212-exploring-psychology
I've just finished, I'm waiting for my exam result :S It's a very good course, really interesting but a bit of a challenge at times - mind you, if you don't like a challenge why would you be here?
Hi Michelle, i've just signed up for the DSE212, did you go to the taster week end at warwick university, if so what was it like, do you feel i may miss out by not going. its a long way you see. what was the most challenging part of the course.. thanks

Hello Matthew, DSE212 was the first level 2 module for me and at first glance, when I received the study materials, it seemed to me a very intimidating task. However, the material was presented in a very interesting and enjoyable way and definitely is a real journy through all major psychological topics. Of course, there are moments that you need to push yourself harder especially when you are working on TMAs and doing the revision, but this will consolidate your overall understanding of the material which is applicable in the real life as well. Tutors are great and supportive, so I assume you will enjoy it too.
Good Luck.
Hi, it's a great course DSE212. I did it last year. The OUPS revision weekend was also good and a lot of fun. Google also dse212 revision materials or ask OUPS; these really help. As with any course, if you keep on schedule or better ahead of it, it will be more enjoyable and you will do better. Take good notes as you go; it really helps with revision for the exam, which is tough. Good luck!
Hi Matthew/Faye
I'm starting DSE 212 in October too. I've done quite a lot of study before but this is my first OU and Psychology module. Bit nervous, but v excited. Would be good to share any preparation thoughts...

Hello I am starting DSE212 as well, at the moment I am doing Cognitive Psychology and Social Psychology (at the same time...I wouldn't suggest attending two courses at the same time) last year I did ED209 Child development, which was really interesting. I am really nervous about the exams in October since both cognitive and social psychology are hard modules...
Just transferring my course details over to Exploring Psychology... Had applied for Introduction to Social Sciences, but just found out (with less than a month to start the course) that I don't need to do a level one because of previous study at college!!!! Yeah me!!! Don't know what I've done though as I think this course is more difficult than the Social Sciences one... Ah well I love a challenge!!! ha ha!!! x
Hallo Matthew. I am Peter and this is my first time to study with the OU and will be starting Introducing the Social Sciences and Exploring Psychology in October 2011. I would be much grateful if you could let me know how you found the module Intro. to Social Sciences DD101 if you did this module.
Dear All,
I am starting DSE212 this October as well. I hope we can all keep in touch and support each other during this course.
A bit upset that i cannot attend taster week end at uni, because I live outside the UK. If someone enjoy it please let me know how it was and what new info you learnt about the course.
Best regards,
Fatima
I've just completed DSE212. It was really good, hard work. Erica cox does a revision guide for the exam, strongly recommend it. it helped massively.
I would also recommend to do DXR222 straight after, because everything will make sense. The residential school is worth going to.
One bit of advice take time to plan TMA's and dont rush them.
Hi Matthew I am starting DSE212 in October. Im based in Northern Ireland. I have completed 4 modules so far with the OU and I Have really enjoyed these. Anyone any good tips of what I could do know to prepare myself for the start? x
Also starting this course in October, along with Introduction to Counselling. Have studied with the OU before but not for a few years so a bit nervous about getting into the habit of studying again!
Hi,
I'm starting DSE212 in October too. Very excited and pleasantly suprised to see this platform as I'm new to OU and didn't expect it!! I am based in Holmfirth West Yorkshire and I'm looking forward to being part of the OU and sharing support with y'all!!
Hi everyone, I'm starting the course in Oct 2011 too. Hopefully I will receive the materials next week - exciting!
Does anyone know which month the exam is in?
Hi everyone,
I am looking forward to recieving the study books and DVD/CV next week too!
I took a break and have come back to finish DSE212 course! I felt that studying and not able to talk to anyone at home about what i have been learning was hard! This time when Face book is set up I'll be able to do that! Happy Days!
I found this course easy to read but hard to do my assignments, as essay writing isn't a skill I found easy. I will enjoy this journey for sure as it is a challenge!
Regards,
Vinder
Hi everyone i am starting the course too in October 2011. Haven't studied for over three years, i completed my human biology degree in 2007 and have been working as a MLA but have decided its not for me. Now i am hoping to complete this course and add credits to my exsisting degree then next year apply for a masters in Psychology. Anyone in the same situation with their degree. I am based in Hertfordshire. Good luck to all.
Hi Lorraine,
How was the Human Biology degree! I was interested in that before starting this!
I'm planning on applying with the British Psychology Society when i finsh this. Is that where you're getting your masters in Psychology?
I'm in Kent and have been doing Accounts for over 20 years. This is my career change to settle in Psychology for future plans.

I got the books today! So Happy! Let the journey begin!
Hi All,
Just been having a read through as I too will be starting the course in October.
I like the idea of a facebook group...I felt like I was all alone when I studied DD101 and at times it's hard to keep going.
Does anyonw know if we were meant to receieve an assignement booklet with the course materials...it's not on the contents list but one did arrive with DD101.
I like being aware in advance of when assignments are due and exams take place.
Hope to speak soon,
Liam
Hi guys - I have recieved all my course materials last week, & am i the only one who feels like I havent got the faintest clue what ive let myself in for? :o) I hope I can do well, its just been so long since ive studied I think im a bit lost at where I start or what to do! Oh well.. im sure itll become clear when the module opens tomorrow!
Hi everyone
I too am starting DSE212 in October and am really keen to get going! This is my third module (completed D171 in June and am currently struggling with trying to finalise my EMA for DD101) towards the BSc in Psychology and loving it so far. I am hoping to sign up for ED209 in February as well. Anyone else thinking of going for two modules? A bit worried about the levels of work involved but also conscious of the need to press on given the length of time it appears to take before you can even think about making a career out of psychology!
D
Have any of you recieved an email regarding the examination for this module? I recieved one earlier saying the examination is this October & am now having a slight panic attack as I didnt this the exam was until June :/
