Heinrich Mueller - Mon, 16/05/2011 - 12:12

 Hi.

I've also started the Bsc (Hons) in Psychology with DSE141 "Discovering Psychology".

I'm from Germany. Would be nice to have somebody for information exchange.

Heinrich.

Amanda Roy - Sat, 03/09/2011 - 19:10

Hello Heinrich, where in Germany are you from? I'm starting DSE141 in November so it would be interesting to hear the opinions of someone who has already started it.

Ulrike Miegel - Wed, 14/09/2011 - 12:21

Hi Heinrich

Do you study with the OU in Germany or do you live in the UK?

I'm from Germany as well but live in the UK (Suffolk area).

I started B07 in March with Y183 - Startin with psychology and I am currently studying DD131. My next course, DSE141, starts in November.

Would be nice to get in contact.

Regards

Ulrike

Hi folks - and welcome to the OU! Those of you doing DD131 might find this forum thread useful - there are lots of people doing this module by the looks of it: http://www8.open.ac.uk/platform/social-sciences-ou-community-online/dd131

And here's a forum about DD131 and DSE141: http://www8.open.ac.uk/platform/study-support/dd131-and-dse141-may-2011

Best of luck folks! Robyn

Hi y'all,

I'm starting my BSc (honours) in Psychology and Criminolgy studies in November. I'm starting with Y183 first to get used to studying (this begins on 1st September) then I start DSE141 in November. If anyone else is doing this then feel free to get in touch. Any tips on researching the subject to get a head start would be great. Thanks and good luck to you all.

Andy...!
Les Haworth - Wed, 06/07/2011 - 17:04

Matt Brundle - Sat, 06/08/2011 - 12:18

Hi Andy

I too am starting with Y183 in September. I have noticed that you are doing DSE141 in November too. I am thinking of doing the same. Do you think it will be managable running them both at the same time? Cheers

Matt

 Hi Matt,

Just realised you'd replied to my post. When I spoke to the advisor she said that Y183 is acheivable in a couple of months so I'm hoping to have it completed before I start DSE 141. If you want to keep in touch mate my email is:
andyf3050@gmail.com
Feel free to drop me a line, could be a good move if were both doing the same modules.

Thanks and kind regards,
Andy

Louise O'Reagain - Sun, 03/07/2011 - 13:05

 Hey everyone,

I'm so glad I've eventually found my way to this thread - I've been on the search for people on my course! Let's just hope I can find my way back now!

I'm starting SDK125 in September and DSE141 in November. The plan is to work towards the BSc (Hons) in Psychology. This is my first distance learning experience as well as my first uni experience so I'm looking forward to it a lot! If anyone wants to get in touch then let me know (especially if you happen to live in Jersey!)

Good luck everyone!

Louise :)

Chloe Thacker - Fri, 22/07/2011 - 17:38

 Hey Louise!

I'm also starting SDK125 at the end of this year, followed by the DSE141 to aim towards the BSc in Psychology, so it seems we are on very similar journeys!

It would be good to chat about the courses and just generally if you would like to.. I definitely feel quite apprehensive about starting!

Would be nice to hear from you, we can talk on here or if you want to chat my email is chloe.eleanor_t@hotmail.com :)

I can't wait to start :D

Pauline Mitchell - Sun, 03/07/2011 - 15:08

Hey everyone,
I've just finished DSE212 and had 4 days off before starting DXR222.
Best of luck to everyone on the road to BSc. Psychology.

Andy Fraser - Wed, 10/08/2011 - 16:16
 Hi Les,

I'm also starting DSE 141 in November but I'm doing "Starting with Psychology" Y183 first. That starts on 1st September and I hope to have it done in time to start DSE 141. I'm confident I'll do it and if you want to keep in touch, I'm all ears...! Which qualification are you working towards? I'm heading for a BSc (honours) in Criminology and Psychology.

Regards,
Andy

Best of luck Leslie, it sounds like a fascinating course. There is a feature on it on p21 of the latest issue of Sesame.

David Needs - Tue, 19/07/2011 - 03:52

I'll be starting my second module towards this degree in October, DSE212 Exploring Psychology. Finished DD101 earlier in the year and still waiting for my result...

I've just been looking at the list of required modules and wondering how long it typically takes to get a BSc Hons degree part time.

I initially thought about 6 years. Is anybody planning to get a degree in less time than that? (while working full time).

I've got the learning bug now but don't want to overload myself with studying and want to enusre I get the best grades I can.

Charlene Brown - Mon, 15/08/2011 - 21:29

hey I'm beginning my DSE212 course in October also... Was thinking bout a facebook group for us all to get talking about the course if you fancey it!!!  Need someone to begin with!!  x

Hi Lesley,

I am a perspective student of the OU one of it's younger at 18. I am planning to do the discovering psychology module DSE141 in November too.

It would be great to get in touch, with some one on the same path.

Good Luck

Chloe Thacker - Fri, 22/07/2011 - 17:43

 Hey Amy,

I thought I would reply to you as I am also one of the younger OU students (I'm 19) and I'm also working towards the BSc in Psychology. DSE141 is the second course I'm doing, are you starting with that one? I'm starting with SDK125 (Intro to health sciences).

It would be nice to chat to someone on similar courses and to get to know some other OU students going through similar experiences :)

My email is chloe.eleanor_t@hotmail.com if you fancy a chat!

Bridget Prole - Tue, 02/08/2011 - 19:32

Hi, especially to those of you doing DSE141 in November as I am.  Am new to OU but really looking forward to getting started.  I've always had a vague interest in psychology but never studied it in any great depth.  This unit really appealed to me, so my plan is to see how I get on with it and then decide which route to follow.

Bridget

 Hi Bridget,

I'm also starting DSE141 in November and I'm new to OU study too. Hopefully we can find a few more who are starting this module. Which qualification are you heading for or are you still pondering? I'm working towards BSc (honours) in Criminology and Psychological Studies. Feel free to get in touch, it's good to have as much support as possible. Good luck to you...!

Andy
Bridget Prole - Sat, 20/08/2011 - 16:58

Hi

It's really good to see so many people in similar situations using this platform - guess we all have the same feelings of excitement at getting started and uncertainty about how we'll cope.  I am pondering over Psychology or Criminology and Psychological Studies - am keeping my options open at the moment but the content of Discovering Psychology really interested me so I thought that was the one I should start with. So far all seems good - any queries I've had have been answered and I feel that I've been kept well informed.  Good luck with it all.

Cheers

Bridget

This is one course I'm thinking of to start towards the end of next year, so if no objections, would like to read your posts and ask a few questions now and then.  This year have to finish my current course on Motion Graphics for my work, next year course are for me :-)
