Hello everyone!
I'm probably a little early, but hey - I'm excited! I'm starting my studies with the OU in May 2012 doing DD131 Introduction to Social Sciences (Part One) and wanted to meet and chat to anyone who is the same as me - whether you are on the same module or just starting study, get in contact :)
I'm both nervous and excited. I work full time at the moment but may go part time to focus more on my studies. I have never done studying like this so I don't know what to expect. May seems a long way off but I wanted to get started and connected with as many of you as possible before then. I'm based in Brighton/Sussex area and once the course has started would love to meet up for study sessions etc.

I will start DD131 Introduction to Social Sciences (Part One) in May as well! And I'm really excited about it as well.
However at the moment I'm doing DSE141 Discovering Psychology, so hopefully by May I should be able to be more confident in my own strenght of studying on my own.

Hello all - I've just signed up for DD131 in May too. I'm completely new to OU ... heading for a BA in Modern Languages hopefully (English and French). I'm looking for work at the moment - we've just moved back from living in France for a few years. I'm hoping to get a job as a teaching assistant while I'm studying and then qualify as a teacher in my last year at OU. Phew! That's the dream anyway.

I'm starting Y183 in March and D131 in May also.
I'm equally excited and nervous though I've also been prepping myself to begin my studies by doing the free courses on OpenLearn.
It will be nice getting to know everyone while we work through our studies.

Hi everyone, I am new to the OU aswell, im starting y183 in March and DSE141 in May, I havent studied since I left school years and years ago lol. I am so excited.
btw Petra I used to go to school in St.Neots I used to live in Little Paxton and Great Paxton when I was a kid.
Im working towards a hons degree in Health Sciences.

I am so nerveous about starting the Y183 in March as it will be not my mother tounge. I have to see how it goes but if all works out I first want to head towards the newly introduced E74 or even more.
I can not decide if the DSE 141 or the DD 131 and DD 132 will be the best for me.
Could you tell me why you decided for either or?

Hello, I'm Meg I'm also starting the course in May, I have asked to join the facebook group. This is my first course with the OU and im really looking foward to studying again. It feels brilliant that im doing a degree and will be one step towards the future I really wish to live. I'm in Gloucestershire if anyone wants to know. Hi I have strted D141 & D131 in May this year. I am in Gloucestershire as well Meg, so I guess I will see you at one of the tutorials. Where abouts in Gloucestershire are you? Is anyone else from Gloucestershire ?I am just outside Stroud. I am not able to come to the tutorial today if you go could you please share with me anything important I miss. I am a complementary therapist, I am also training at the moment to teach at Gloscol, plus running a busy practice plus 6 children 3 cats and a husband, I am doing the degree for self development and see what happens from there.
