Yes.. Me! I haven't studied seriously since about 1995 so this is going to be a real chaallenge, though one I tend to enjoy.

Hey guys!
Which pathways did you both choose? i decided on broadbased-too indecisive thought i could try a bit of all parts of science and go from there. Dont know exactly where i want to end up though just know that science interests me!
Im sure you'll whizz through it jason!

Forums get easier the more you use them, then they're difficult to step away from. Tell me off if you see me around here too much!
Sian Booth - Thu, 16/08/2012 - 02:18
Hiya Not starting S104 until February next year because I haven't studied for 24 years, so needed to get back up to speed on a few things first . You will be well into your studies by then. It's the maths side of things that is worrying me, and the academic language used when constructing your assessments. I hope you, and the rest of the people here who are starting in Oct do really well, and I look forward to coming on here to see how you are all doing, so please keep us posted.

Hi,
I am starting this course in Oct '12 as my first step back into studying for 19 years(!) I was feeling quite confident until I took the 'Are you ready for S104?' quiz and realised that things had changed quite a bit since I was at school! I am now panicking...alot but its nice to know there are other people in the same boat!
Sian Booth - Mon, 20/08/2012 - 11:08
Hi everyone
I know what you mean Tracie, it really is quite daunting isn't it. I keep taking the quiz, maybe once a week and bit by bit my scores are getting better. There is the e-maths book on here aswell that is really good. :-)
Sara Broadley - Wed, 29/08/2012 - 10:19
Hi
Yes I am too. It makes it a little less daunting finding people that are on the course too. I have decided on the Biology pathway, although I don't quite know were the different pathways come in to play?

Good morning all,
I too am starting studying s104 in Oct. Picked the course without doing the relevant research (due to circumstances, did not have the time....) and now only really looking into it, looks like I managed to fluke it and pick a great course :).
Just to introduce myself, I am 24, I too, haven’t studied since first year of college, and looking forward to the challenges ahead. This module will hopefully be going towards the BSc (Hon) Secondary Education in Physics.
I now live in Wiltshire, so if anybody is from around that area, give me a message.
Good luck to everybody, sure everyone will do great!!
Siobhan Murphy - Wed, 12/09/2012 - 10:46
Hey. I'm Siobhan. Glad to see there's lots of other people starting. I have never done further education so will be interesting to see how this works out lol health sciences and psychology. Anybody else doing this?
Samantha Smith - Mon, 17/09/2012 - 14:51
Hi all
I'm Sam, 34 and in London. Often do research for work but haven't studied properly for about 12 years, so getting back into the habit will be interesting.
I started stickying my wall planner today so I'd have the assessment dates and the rest of my plans in a visible place all the time. It'll either scare me into working or depress me into a stupor that there aren't more non-OU and non-work things on there!
I think the thing that's worrying me most is getting to grips with the language for assessments and further reading etc - esp since I want to tackle astronomy and geology in depth further down the line. Start us off slowly please!
