Quality
Just thought i´d post an observation. I´ve just started my course and I think that the quality of the tuition and the guidance on the course work could be better, infact I feel like quitting

Out with the old? What do you do with old course materials?
I was just wondering what people do with their old course materials (set books, assignment booklets, TMAs, DVDs ect)? Do you sell them to raise a little money?

80s films revived
Just seen that a clutch of 80s films are about to get new sequels - Tron, Beverley Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Robocop and even The Goonies are apparently among others destined for a Noughties remake.

Two hundred thousand million [a lot of zeros] to bail out the banks
Ever payed for a party that you have not been invited to? Somebody somewhere must be wetting themselves with laughter as the country slowly sinks into even more debt.

Religion
I would ask any people out there in OUland whether religion should be a private and person topic or feel, like me, that life is more mysterious than we can imagine and, despite our friends in Science

Buy and sell course books
University Book Search helps students and alumni buy and sell their OU course materials - and raises funds for the OU...
As the OU celebrates its 40th anniversary, one of its staunchest supporters is celebrating her 10th year providing a service to students and alumni. OU graduate Jo Hunt set up universitybooksearch to help OU alumni and students to buy and sell their old course material.
Says Jo: "Enquiries for books come from all over the world: Hong Kong to America - Norway to South Africa. There are many hundreds of courses for sale – maths and science courses seem to sell the quickest but even discontinued courses from the ‘70s often find good homes."
Sellers pay just £5 to advertise as many courses as they like for 6 months. In addition Jo sells a large quantity of ex-OU library books from her garage and has raised over £35,000 for OUSET and the OU Foundation so far.

Are you new to OU study? If so, come say hi!
With many new courses starting in February, there´s probably quite a few newbies out there - or people who haven´t studied with the OU for a while. So this is your chance to come say hi!

We all get the 'wobbles': what advice would you give to a new student on staying the course?
Old hands and OU alumni know there are pinch points: every time a TMA is due; when everyone else is on holiday; and as an exam looms.

Do you enjoy the subject that you study?
For me, the best thing about studying now as an adult is I can study what I want, not what I have to. I am absolutely fascinated by my area of study.
