Hi,

I am hoping to study Social Policy & Criminology and wondered if anyone else out there is doing it? If so, it would be great to have some feedback?

Many thanks.

Nicky

I'm starting in Oct the DSE141 Discovering psychology & DD131 Introducing the social sciences - part one module. I will eventually complete a BA (Honours) Combined Social Sciences with the Criminology intensive start pathway. What have you chosen?

My name is Sarah and I'm in Yorkshire. I have a 4 year old and am also working full time, while trying to study and gain a volunteer placement which will give me experience needed as well as hopefully a degree.

:-)

Hello :)

I am starting on the Introducing the social sciences part one module.

Quite excited for it as I didn't go to University when my friends did because I wanted to carry on working and making money.

I am 20 and work full time but in the future I want to work in victim support and so this is the way I am hopefully going to achieve that!

Hi I'll be starting the BA in social policy and criminology in October, my first module will be introducing the social sciences too. I'm excited but so nervous! Looks such an interesting topic though and such a broad subject area. I'm hoping to use my degree to work in the youth justice system. I'm studying part time so will take a while to achieve this, especially as I'll be fitting it all aroung being a mum, but can't wait!

 Hello

I'm also starting the social policy and criminology degree in october, would be lovely to have some friends starting at the same time with the same interests.

I can't wait, really excited and nervous. Have been out of study for a long time but eager to get going.

 hi all above

I am looking to start the intensive social policy and criminology in October. I have not studied for over 10 years and work full time as a Pcso, is this a wise thing to do? Does anybody know how intense?

Carl

Hi everyone

I am starting the DD101 Introducing the Social Sciences. I haven't studied at this level before so like everyone else on here it is both exciting and scary.

It would be good if there was some suggested pre-course reading that we could use to tune our brains up with and to give us a taste of what is to come.

Good luck Carl with working and studying I think that anyone working full time and doing an OU course just has to make sure that they are very disciplined with their study time and avoid getting side tracked. Not easy if you have a full working and social life but worth it in the end.
