Hi everyone, I'm new to the OU - starting AA100 (The arts past and present) in October. Hopefully going to do the full 120 credit course and then transfer to my local university to study Archaeology in 2 years' time. Pity that the OU doesn't offer an Archaeology degree or I would just complete it here instead! Hope to talk to some fellow newbies soon and start preparing for the course :)

Hi all,

Looking to start the Foundation Degree in Retail Management in October. Has anyone either started it or looking to go on the course? Is there a book I should get before I start the course or any kind of research? Im also interested in the introduction to retail management and marketing. Which course would carry more weight in the retail industry as I am working for Tescos.

Thanks

Leonard

Yvonne Blackborough - Wed, 01/08/2012 - 10:08

Hi, I am starting DD131 Introduction to Social Science in October, then starting DSE141 in February. I plan to do an Open Degree but with an emphasis on Psychology, Philosophy and the Social Sciences. It's many years since I did any studying and never before at this level so feeling a bit nervous about it. I'm trying to use the time before the course starts to brush up on my study skills using Open Learn - it's really good and I would recommend it to anyone who feels they could use a refresher. I live in Dorchester and it would be great to hear from anyone else who lives nearby.

I'm also thinking of starting the L140 en rumbo: intermediate spanish in february...I'm looking on a bit of advice weather to start this module in feb or wait until oct 2013 as i'm unsure what the work load is going to be like with the OU

Laura Page - Thu, 27/09/2012 - 10:57

Hi,

My name is Laura and I am new to the OU like so many others. Have to admit I am finding it some comfort that some of you, like me, are feeling overwhelmed with the new experience!

Not to sure how I am going to find time to look around and get used to the website and all it has to offer as well as fitting in the study.

I am studying Paramedic Science whilst working FT in the Ambulance Service.

Natalie Roff - Tue, 06/11/2012 - 14:01

Hi name is Natalie, Ive just started the November Y176 understanding children and young people openings course. I'm really excited and a little aprehensive about studying with the open university. I live in Kent and have been a post lady for nearly 10 years. I dont yet have children of my own. I hope to eventually qualify as a social worker or something in a similar field. Any one else out there just started on this course or anyone who has been through it?

It would be great to meet some peers on here for friendship and support and interaction.

Natalie

Sherrie Lawford - Sun, 18/11/2012 - 15:04

Hi my name is Sherrie from Huddesfield.  Started the OU Openings Course in November,  studying Understanding Management Y179.  I was a little nervous, as I haven't studied for 20 years, feel very rusty, very excited and looking forward to learning all about writing essays, note-taking etc.

I would be interested in hearing from other OU students studying Understanding Management Y179 and any peers for support and advice.

Thank you for reading my comment.
