I'm also a newbie to the OU - I'll be starting my studies with S216 Environmental Science in Feb 2013 after tranferring credit from the Uni of Southampton. Still trying to get my head around the size of the OU and all of it's resources!
Am very excited and nervous at the same time but confident in my subject choice so hopefully that'll help a lot!
Feel free to message me if you are on the same course as I would be happy to chat!

Hi there,
I am due to start D171 Intro to counselling in April. It is my first time with the OU so thought I would say hello. Is there anybody else on here about to commence the course. If so it would be great to get in touch.
I already have an English degree taken in my younger days. I thought that I would try something different and counselling interests me. I am from Alkrington which is part of Middleton, Manchester.
Bye for now,
PAM ( I use my middle name)

I have a fascination in science, in particular, the mechanics of the universe so am starting gently with S177. It would be good to chat with any fellow S177ers or other in a similar field.

Ayiesha Emms - Fri, 17/05/2013 - 15:13
Hello :)
I'm Ayiesha, just turned 19 last weekend and today I've enrolled onto the Foundation Working with Young People degree.
I have a strong interest and passion in working with children and young people and I have a variety of experience working with them all over the UK.
I hope to one day be able to give the younger generation a taste of the experience and help that I got when I was younger so they can realise the potential they hold in themselves and make them all feel worth the world. I believe children and young people discredit themselves as important because they feel no one listens to them or knows what they are going through and that is what I want to help change with generations to come. To me, it is so important to make children and young people feel safe, secure, happy but most of all we need to encourage young people to have a voice and we need to listen to them.
I'm a brand new shiny OU student as I mentioned earlier and I'm starting my first module in October of this year. As well as my passion for working with/for children and young people I really enjoy meeting new people, photography, travelling, writing and singing (though I'm not very good at it!).
I hope to get to chat with some of you over the course of our studies :)
Ayiesha x

Hi - I am returning to studying after a break of 3 years and, if I am honest, a little bit nervous. I have never studied with the OU before. I completed my first year in English Literature at Reading University and loved the weekly interaction between the students. Any advise on how I can work effectively on my own?
Samuela Finn - Wed, 31/07/2013 - 14:25
Hi everyone, I'm starting stage 2 of my Business Studies after completing the first 120 credits through another university. I chose OU because of better study options, and modules more relevant to the career I want to create for myself. 4 modules to go and working, so I guess I'll be doing one module per year if things stay the way they are (i.e. I stay in my full time job) so roll on the new module and the new adventure! Good luck everyone.
