What is unfortunate about 30? Is it like 13 for you? unlucky! Are you feeling too old or too young?
Sorry, I couldnt resist. I am a mature 44. At least thats what I keep teling myself! I am starting 2nd course with OU next year. Studying Law which is what I wanted to study 25 years ago! But life does have a habit of getting in the way and very occasionally trips you up amd drops heavy objects from great heights! I luckily managed to escape most of the worst traps last year and scraped a pass. (OH YES!) And im ready (I hope) for the next year
Good Luck to all you brilliant OU people!

So you should be - isn't it a great feeling? Even those who haven't passed should be congratulating themselves on completing a course.

I surrender to your greater knowledge! I know there were some who didnt pass the course I was on and had a good idea they wouldnt pass but wanted to complete anyway. They were enjoying the experience of studying. Which is probably the best way to tackle any course. And I am keeping that in mind for next year!

I'm Mick and I live in North Notts. I'm an OU psychology and philosophy graduate but have come back to it in the computer age to start 3 years of French. I've been passably competent since school (I'm 54) but decided that I might spend (at least) all the summers there when I retire in 2010 and shuddered at the thought of not being able to understand people.
I think there will be an online facility to practise French conversation online but if any other L120 students want to meet for a beer or virtually online to get some conversation going, I'd look forward to meeting you.

I completed Y160 this year and am commencing AA100 "The Arts Past and Present" as the beginning of a full BA (Hons)course in History. I am 72 now and will be 78 when I finish. There's optimism for you.
When I started Y160 I had not studied for over 50 years but I was amazed at how quickly the mind set and the methods came back. My course materials are due any day now and I have to stop myself looking out of the window for the postman!

Hi Mick,
Our word filter is very - urm - very 'robust'! So for some reason, Mick was on there! We're gradually working through it. I've taken Mick off now as personally, I don't find you offensive :-) It doesn't seem to have changed your previous post but hopefully, you can call yourself by your name from now on!

Hi,
I'm Linda, I'm 49, married with two teenage children, and I live just north of Liverpool, although I was born and brought up in Bournemouth.
I'm between courses at the moment, but so far I've studied Y161 and AZX103, and in February I'll be starting A173 (Start writing family history). I've registered for a Humanities degree, partly because I just can't make up my mind to stick to one subject!

Hi there,
I'm Paul, a 43 year-old civil servant and am studying for a Humanities (with Classics) degree. I just got my result for A219 which I have thankfully passed. I hope you all had similar good news with any results and if not, that you manage to 're-group', and conquer that subject eventually. Only 7 weeks to the start of aa309!
This site looks good, although it is yet another distraction, although a welcome one.
Have a great weekend

Hi everyone.
I'm Paul, and I'm in my second study year at OU. I'm doing a Humanities degree of some kind, but I've still not decided which area (if any) I'm going to focus on. I did A103 last year and am now doing A200.
Well, apart from uni work I'm also a self-employed researcher and PR'er and I hail from sunny Wolverhampton.
I love socialising, travelling, reading, movies, music and texting a bit too much.
