Another search and I found these pieces of software. Not sure how easy they are to use but you might find the best way to a handle on mind maps is to have a go making some. Trying picking topics like : next holiday, your latest course e.g. M363, the concept happiness.

I personally find mind maps a totally appalling brain storming technique. My brain likes linear ordered groups so I much prefer bullet point lists to help with revision. When brainstorming I tend to make a list and then reorder it at the end.
