Newbies only please: sum it up for us in a sentence

I'm Debbi and I start my Open degree in September and I'm bricking it. Work part-time in local govt and am going to be studying part time here too. Anyone else terrified?

Bit of a minefield to get started, but lots of friendly help available.

My name's David - I live in Glasgow, and my DD101 course starts in a bit over a month. I can't wait! I've got MA + MPhil in totally different subjects, but have been out of the loop a while. So a bit of nervousness there, too.

So in one sentence: raring to go!

hello my names kevin and my course starts in a month its been 30 years since i did any learning in the sense of sitting down and going in a structured way. I look at upon this as a daunting experience been looking at the book for the induction period for my course and this as given me a bit of extra confidence. So now looking forward to it with a bit more confidence.

hi my names sarah im single mum to one daughetr whos four and at school and got one on teh way! So i have my work cut out as far as studying is concerned but im determined, i have found the open uni to be fast efficient and great at explaining things ive just read through the stuff ive been sent for k101 ( intro into health and social care ) , and im pleasantly surprised at how interactive evrything is i was concerend id feel alone .

The OU have been very good so far with me :).

Hi, I'm Martin, I've just Joined the OU after one failed attempt but older wiser and more dedicated to the cause of career progression with a young brood at my heels in the house:o). Im Lianne and Im working towards my BA Hons Degree in Working with young people... started last year, and have 2 courses under my belt, about to start my 3rd 1 in January... U212...!!  All the information i have received is scary and im dreading it, but determined to succeed!!!

Of course one of interesting things about OU study is someone's always new. Which is where you old hands can step in and advise on getting through the first weeks of panic/uncertainty/isolation.

Hi, I thought I was computer literate but its like Birminghams spaghetti juntion. Been on 4 hours and still haven't achieved anything. I think I've fluked this one. Lozza
