Are you aged between 18 and 25? Why did you choose to study with the OU? Did you try a traditional uni first and find it wasn't for you? Share your stories here...

Oh, and here's a few words from young student Hayley to start you off...

I have been with the OU for a number of years and I found that I could easily combine working without studying but not having a social life is a bit of drawback from it and I can feel alone. But now thanks to facebook, I am on my many communities and I have even exchanged numbers and e-mail addresses with a number of students doing the same courses as me this year. But sadly in September I will be finishing from the OU and heading off to Uni to study social work without the student debt. (Thanks NHS/DoH Bursary Unit)

The first thing that struck me was the debt to be perfectly honest. Despite financial help from my parents, I didn't want to put that type of loan on my back for years to come! Secondly, I am very close to my family and where I live, and whilst I do like going to cities, I felt I wanted to stay in the comfort of the country as I knew I would work much more efficiently if I'm comfortable and at ease. I would stress to any other young students to sit back and think about the priorities in your life before rushing into any decisions. You will be there for 3 years of your life, therefore it is crucial to make a good decision.
