Providing guidance on managing your information for effectiveness and compliance
(Adapted from the Scottish Executive's Information Management Principles)
We are working to ensure these are true across the whole university. Everyone should consider how they could meet these fundamentals in their everyday working practices, and the guidelines below should inform this.
One of the most important aspects of information management is that all business documentation should be available in shared filing systems, whether paper or electronic. This fosters an information-sharing culture, enabling people to access and utilise the information they need more freely; as well as enabling more effective compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.
An Information Management wiki is available for internal (Open University) use only and provides a variety of guidance on Information Management best practice. As it is a wiki it also provides the opportunity for OU staff to collaborate and comment on the guidance and content provided.
