The Open University (OU) has a wide-reaching and vibrant research and enterprise portfolio. It is ranked in the top third of UK higher education institutions for the quality of its research, as determined by the last national Research Assessment Exercise in 2008. Half of our research was assessed as either world-leading or internationally excellent.

The role of Innovation and Enterprise, (I&E) is to facilitate links and build relationships between the OU, businesses and industry by working with you and our academics to:

create mutually beneficial collaboration, confidentiality, material transfer agreements,
identify the best way for you to engage with and develop a long-term relationship with us,
provide advice and guidance on intellectual property matters.

I&E’s activities help develop and support collaborative projects with organisations in the private and public sector in collaboration with a range of regional, national and international partners.
