Carbon collapse of tropical peatlands informs global debate

Deforested tropical peatlands are haemorrhaging carbon from deep within their peat soils, with potentially serious consequences for the environment.

The peat swamps of Asia may be a more significant source of global carbon emissions than previously thought, according to new research published in Nature by The Open University and partners.
