Physical and Environmental Science Facilities

Our research centre for Physical and Environmental Sciences, CEPSAR, hosts a wide range of internationally-renowned laboratories and facilities that are led by researchers and managed by experienced laboratory managers. All research laboratories are underpinned by high-quality supporting laboratories and dedicated technical staff. CEPSAR facilities and laboratories are broadly sub-divided into:

  • those used to characterise the chemistry and isotopic composition of matter in the Solar System
  • those examining life and feedbacks between life and the Earth system, and simulation of Earth and Planetary processes
  • specialist niche technical capability encompassing a diverse suite of laboratories and equipment, for example for volcano monitoring and for the development of space flight instrumentation

Integrated Waste Systems

Our multidisciplinary Integrated Waste Systems group aims to deliver sustainable resource management solutions. A key feature of the research is working with stakeholders with government bodies to provide evidence and policy-relevant understanding, and with businesses to develop practical solutions to real world waste management problems.
