Building capacity through technology-enhanced learning

Dr Koula Charitonos is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies.

Her research examines ways in which technology-enhanced professional learning can be considered a driving force for the capacity building needed to solve global challenges, in particular the threat of drug-resistant infections, provision of immigration advice to refugees and asylum seekers, and access to quality education for disadvantaged learners.

Her research takes an original standpoint by placing attention on professionals and specific work practices and then examining how technology-supported activities can build capacity and add value to their professional lives.

Responding to online misogyny

Dr Olga Jurasz is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the Open University Law School, specialising in international law, human rights, and legal responses to violence against women (including online violence). 

Recently, she authored the first monograph on the British and European market which provides a robust legal analysis of questions of how the law should respond to online misogyny and other forms of text-based abuse online, suggesting a potential law reform in this area.
