Profile summary

Professional biography

I am a Postgraduate Researcher and Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership Scholar, on the Development Policy and Practice pathway.  I hold and MSc in Development Management (Open University) and a BA in Modern History and Politics (University of Wales, Swansea).

Research interests

My research concerns equitable trade, with a focus on gender relations. Focusing on coffee production, I am interested in the varied roles and influences of actors in the coffee value chain.  Currently, my research is exploring the role of Civil Society in working towards equality in trade, the evolution of Corporate Social Responsibility and consumer perceptions.

Before joining the Open University as Postgraduate Researcher, I worked with the Fairtrade Foundation, in a Research and Communications role.

Having a long-standing interest in development and gender, my previous MSc research focussed on institutionalising gender equity in sport.

Before a career break to raise a family, I worked in a programme support role in Oxfam’s Humanitarian Department.
