I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Technology Management within the School of Engineering and Innovation. My teaching is mostly associated with PG technology and innovation management curriculum. I currently chair the module T846 Technology Strategy and will be chairing T849 Strategic capabilities for technological innovation. I have recently completed a five year stint as MCT's Associate Dean (Curriculum and Qualifications. Before joining the OU in 2002 I was Programme Director for UG and PG Technology Management at Liverpool John Moores University. Before entering academia in 1996, I worked in a variety of professional roles in the electricity industry and have extensive experience of Research and Development project management, technology-based business development, and management of technical and consultancy services in a contract Research and Development organisation.
Current research interests include the strategic and operations management of research and technology organisations, approaches to the marketing of high technology services and the teaching of technology and innovation management.
My teaching is primarily associated with PG Technology Management. I have chaired the T883 Business Operations module, and was the principal author, through production from 2003 to 2005 and throughout all its presentations from 2005 to 2015. In addition, I have written blocks of material for T846 Technology strategy and T848 Managing technological innovation. I have also chaired the T802 research project course. Currently I chair T846 and will be chairing its replacement T849 Strategic capabilities for technological innovation. I am particularly interested in the teaching of 'good academic practice' to prepare students for capstone project modules.
