Prior to joining the OU, Anwar was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Buckingham, where he held a position of a Programme Director for the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) Programme.
Anwar was awarded a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Dundee before gaining his Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance with distinction from the same university. Anwar was also awarded a PhD in Finance by the University of Dundee in 2013. He was a part-time tutor during his postgraduate studies at the University of Dundee and University of St Andrews. Anwar is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of CPA Australia. He has acted as ad hoc reviewer for various journals and serves on the Editorial Board for two peer-reviewed journals.
Anwar mainly teaches Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management and Corporate Finance at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His current research covers efficient market hypothesis, emerging stock market performance, market anomalies and Islamic finance and accounting.
