Profile summary

Professional biography

By the time I joined the OU as a member of central academic staff in 2004 I had already worked with the OU for a good many years as a tutor and consultant so the aims and methods of the OU are very much ‘in my blood’.

My primary interests are medical physics and physics applied to health sciences. I developed and ran an MSc and Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Physics for the OU from 2007 – 2015. I have also contributed to several interdisciplinary health science modules at different levels, contributing material on vision, sound, X-ray mammography, and imaging, as well as general physics.

I am a member of the Accreditation Committee of the Institute of Medical Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), the professional body for medical physicists and clinical engineers. I enjoy taking part in in Outreach activities with IPEM and the department, including liaison between the department and the Wellingborough Schools-University partnership which is supported by the Ogden Trust.

Having recently retired I maintain contact with the department and am also continuing to work with IPEM and to undertake some outreach activities.
