Professional biography

I graduated in 2014 with a bachelor degree in Business administration followed by a master degree in Economics and Finance from Durham University Business School. I then obtained my PhD in Accounting and Finance from University of Bath. Prior to joining the Open University as a Lecturer in December 2019, I was Teaching Assistant in the School of Management, University of Bath.

Research interests

My main research interests lies in the areas of international accounting and corporate finance. I am interested on IPOs, corporate governance, earnings management, corporate social responsibility, labor investment efficiency, political uncertainty, tournament incentives, implied cost of capital, employment insurance risk, and audit pricing. Further, I am open to co-operations with people specialising in other fields to combine our strengths.

Teaching interests

During my PhD, I was also Teaching Assistant for several accounting and finance courses for both bachelor and master students. In particular, I was responsible to deliver the seminars of the following modules as Teaching Assistant: Theory of Financial Decision Making, Advanced Financial Accounting (Financial Reporting) and Managing Finance in a Multinational Company. Apart from the above, I was also data advisor for numerous MSc dissertations.

Impact and engagement

I have reviewed for European Journal of Finance (ABS*3) and Finance Research Letters (ABS*2).

One of my works (Local Policy Risk and IPO Performance) was distinguished as the Best Paper in the Young Finance Scholars Conference (YFS, 2018) and was awarded with a Research Grant from the Kemmy Business School (University of Limerick). In another line of inquiry, one part of my PhD thesis (Top Executives’ Compensation and Firm Survival) has been reported on Columbia Law School (CLS) Blue Sky Blog.

External collaborations

I have an extensive network of collaborators in leading business schools in and outside the UK including Bath, Durham, Southampton, Strathclyde Hanken School of Economics and New York University (Stern School of Business).
