PhD thesis: Seeing below the surface of Mars.
Currently completing my PhD studying Ice on Mars, and how this interacts with both the underlying surface of the planet and its atmosphere, I have a background in Geophysics and seismic processing for oil and gas prospecting, and an MSci in Geosciences from Royal Holloway, University of London.
My current research focuses on how broad-spectrum sunnlight interacts with ices on Mars. As Mars hosts naturally occuring carbon dioxide ice, in addition to water ice, there are some unique surface processes which have been observed on Mars, and have been linked to the behaviour of surface carbon dioxide ice and how it interacts with the atmosphere and planetary surface in the presence of sunlight. I carry out experimental work to measure the penetration depth of ices made from both water and carbon dioxide, and in different forms, such as ice slabs or snow.
