Research interests

Current education research interests are in practical skills development in the Life Sciences pathway in relation to employability, and student perceptions of collaborative online practical activities.

Have previously undertaken research on foot-and-mouth disease immunochemistry, epidemiology of African swine fever in Malawi, and the efficacy of Newcastle disease vaccines in Malawi.


Teaching interests

Particular interest in Associate Lecturer (AL) Staff Development.  Set up ByALs-ForALs programme of online events, initially for Science ALs, now expanded to include all STEM ALs.

Involved in production and presentation of S295 (The Biology of Survival) and S317 (Biological Sciences: from Genes to Species), and previously S366 (Evolution) and S104 (Exploring Science).

Tutor on S295 (The Biology of Survival), and previously on S366 (Evolution) and S377 (Molecular and Cell Biology)
