Professional biography

Wayne joined the Open University in August 2007.  He is a member of the Youth Justice team in Health and Social Care.  As such, he has been involved in the production of the four courses that make up the Foundation Degree in Youth Justice and is currently presentation chair for K228: Delivering the Youth Rehabilitation Order. 

Prior to joining the Open University, Wayne worked as a case manager and training and development officer in Youth Offending and Probation Services in the Midlands.  

He is currently a team member producing K209: Youth Justice: Research, theory and policy.  He is also the chief editor of the reader to be produced as a learning resource for this course. 

Research interests

Wayne has a range of research interests encompassing sociology and criminology.  As well has criminal justice policy and children and young people, he is interested in wider issues of social policy, including social exclusion and justice and the social construction of gender. 

Wayne has been involved in the provision of a range of training in both adult and juvenile community rehabilitation and has also been engaged in evaluations of alcohol and citizen advocacy projects in Birmingham.
