Professor Susheila Nasta awarded MBE

Professor Susheila Nasta (Chair in Modern Literature, Faculty of Arts) has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours list for her services to black and Asian Literature. 

Professor Nasta is founder and editor of Wasafiri, Britain’s premier magazine for international contemporary writing. Established in 1984, and published quarterly, Wasafiri has established a distinctive reputation for promoting work by new and established voices across the globe. 

Prof Nasta is Principal Investigator on the Making Britain: South Asian Visions of Home and Abroad 1870-1950 project, in collaboration with the University of Oxford and King's College London. 

The associated Making Britain exhibition, in partnership with the British Library, is currently touring the UK, with plans to tour India in 2011-12.
