Where did it happen?

The project was carried out in 3 different UK research sites:

  • a further education college offering foundation degree programmes
  • a post 1992 university offering a range of professional and academic degree programmes
  • an elite, research intensive university offering established academic programmes of study

Who was involved?

  • 45 students were involved in the project across the three different research sites
  • They were mainly 1st year undergraduates, with some 2nd and 3rd years
  • They were studying across a range of different courses: vocational, professional, traditional academic subjects

How was the data collected?

  • Regular meetings and discussions with students over a 6 month period
  • Students talking to researchers, showing what, how and why they accessed and used particular digital resources
